If you have seen Arizona petrified wood before you probably know it is known for it’s great reds, yellow and oranges. Something you don’t usually see is the jagged black line going though it. This black rings show a growth line of the tree. To finish this piece off I have laminated 3 pieces of black basalt around the wood. 1 ½” in length |

This piece is a completely different type of lamination than I usually do. Most pieces are laminated together and then cut as one piece. In this case both of the pieces were cut separately yet keeping a perfectly flat and rough surface where they will merge. This gives a lot more character to the piece. The Leopard jasper is lower and bends away from the Wyoming black jade that is taller and thinner which flows in the other direction. 2 3/8” in length |

Flashing Ammolite from Alberta is inlayed in black basalt. On the top I have inlayed a Mexican jelly opal which I put white marble behind to make it look as if there is a light in it. |
